Atrium Health Charlotte is currently in search of a Float LPN / LVN to join our dedicated healthcare team.

Position Overview

The Float LPN / LVN is responsible for delivering nursing care and supporting the planning and execution of patient care strategies under the direct oversight of a registered nurse. This role emphasizes maintaining a secure work environment while performing all duties safely and upholding clinical and professional standards appropriate to the patient demographics served.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts patient evaluations to identify nursing care requirements based on the analysis of pertinent data.
  • Recognizes situations that necessitate immediate action.
  • Exhibits proficiency in documenting patient observations, treatments, and responses to care using the nursing process, while actively participating in treatment and procedural assistance.
  • Contributes to the development and modification of care plans by supplying data and identifying potential goals for RN review.
  • Communicates significant changes in patient status to the relevant clinical staff.
  • Implements care plans under RN supervision, ensuring all tasks are completed effectively.
  • Monitors patient progress and objectives, as evidenced by accurate medical record documentation.
  • Organizes and prioritizes workload to ensure timely and quality patient care delivery.
  • Maintains current knowledge and skills in nursing practice, performing only those tasks within legal and facility guidelines.
  • Documents assessments, procedures, patient and family education, and communications with healthcare team members promptly.
  • Provides and evaluates the effectiveness of patient and family education under the direction of the registered nurse, adhering to legal practice boundaries.
Physical Requirements

This position involves walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling. Candidates must be capable of lifting and supporting weights up to 35 pounds while handling patients and medical supplies. Proficiency in English is required, along with intact sensory abilities and critical thinking skills. Quick responsiveness to changes in patient and unit conditions is essential. All applicants must complete a physical ability assessment as part of the employment process.

Qualifications

Applicants must have graduated from an accredited practical nursing program and possess current LPN licensure or a temporary license as a licensed practical nurse. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required in accordance with policy guidelines.
