Position Overview

The Float LPN will deliver nursing services and assist in the planning and execution of care to ensure patient comfort and well-being under the guidance of a registered nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient assessments to identify nursing care requirements based on the analysis of relevant data.
  • Recognize situations that necessitate immediate intervention.
  • Document patient observations, treatments, and responses to care, utilizing the nursing process effectively.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of care plans by providing necessary data and identifying potential goals for RN review.
  • Communicate significant changes in patient status to the appropriate clinical staff.
  • Implement the established care plan under RN supervision, ensuring all tasks are completed.
  • Maintain awareness of patient progress and document accordingly in medical records.
  • Organize and prioritize workload to deliver quality patient care efficiently.
  • Maintain current knowledge and competencies in nursing practices, performing only those skills within legal and facility guidelines.
  • Document assessments, procedures, and patient education timely, ensuring effective communication with the healthcare team.
  • Provide and evaluate the effectiveness of patient and family education under the direction of the registered nurse.
Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to walk, stand, sit, lift, reach, bend, push, and pull. Candidates must be capable of lifting and supporting up to 35 pounds when handling patients and medical supplies. Proficiency in English is essential, along with intact sensory abilities and critical thinking skills.

Qualifications

Applicants must have graduated from an accredited practical nursing program and possess current LPN licensure or a temporary license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required.
