Job Title: Optical Lab Support Specialist

Futurewei Technologies is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Optical Lab Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our optics and materials team, you will play a critical role in supporting leading-edge research in augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) display hardware.

Responsibilities:
  • Work as a lab technician to support research in AR and VR display hardware
  • Setup and align optical components and evaluate image quality
  • Program and debug drivers for microdisplay panels, conduct demo system maintenance and bug fixing
  • Use digital microscopes to image materials samples and identify sub-micron features
  • Communicate complex ideas and testing results effectively
  • Provide general lab support to the optics and materials team
Qualifications:
  • BS degree in engineering from a major university
  • Passion for learning and exploring latest technologies in displays and metaverse
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows operation system and Office 365
  • Willing to learn programming languages such as Python, Matlab, and/or image analysis software
  • Hands-on experience with optical system setup, alignment, and characterization is a plus
  • Deep understanding of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
