Job Title: Peer Recovery Specialist

**Job Summary:**

Suncoast Center is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Recovery Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Recovery Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing non-clinical, evidence-based peer support to individuals navigating the system of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Peer Support: Provide individual planning and wellness self-management to help peers navigate services and regain control over their lives.
  • Mentorship: Mentor peers and support them in developing problem-solving, time management, and decision-making skills.
  • Client Progress Monitoring: Monitor client progress using standard measures for health, behavioral health, and wellness.
  • Treatment Planning: Participate in the treatment planning and coordination of care.
  • Community Resource Utilization: Utilize community resources, including educational, social, cultural, and mutual self-help groups.
  • Documentation: Document all interactions and activities in the electronic medical record according to agency standards.
  • Professional Development: Earn and maintain Florida Certification Board certification as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Graduate or GED Certificate required. AA, AS Human Services or related field from an accredited university preferred.
  • Certification: Certification as a Recovery Peer Specialist or Recovery Support Specialist preferred.
  • Personal Attributes: Must be self-identified current or former user of mental health or co-occurring services and have maintained stability within the last two years.
  • Work Environment: Must be able to work in a team environment with persons with serious mental illness.

Working Conditions:

  • Florida Driver's License is required, along with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle.
  • Suncoast Center office, as well as in the community.
  • Exposure to extreme heat and humidity during the summer months.
