Job Summary

Burrell Behavioral Health is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Recovery Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Recovery Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health and substance use disorders in their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement personalized recovery plans in collaboration with clients, taking into account their unique needs and goals.
  • Maintain regular communication with referral sources, guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure continuity of care and progress updates.
  • Participate in team meetings to ensure seamless care coordination and effective communication.
  • Assist clients in accessing community resources, including mutual aid support groups, and provide transportation to and from appointments as needed.
  • Represent the agency professionally and provide emotional support to clients during crisis situations.
  • Document all services provided in accordance with state and CARF standards.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development through training and education to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Must be willing to self-identify as a present or former client of mental health and/or substance use services or self-identify as a person in recovery from mental health and/or substance use disorder.
  • Requires one year of direct and personal experience with the mental health system as a primary consumer of services.
  • Able to complete a state-approved Certified Peer Support training program and other required trainings within six months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2,000 hours of supervised work experience, including any combination of paid or volunteer work.
Physical Requirements

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls.
