Job Summary: The primary responsibilities of this role encompass:
Working within a library environment, providing assistance to patrons with circulation tasks while ensuring a tidy and effective workspace.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned in response to the evolving needs of the institution.
Compensation: $13.33 per hour, commensurate with experience and educational background.
Key Responsibilities:
This position is classified as Non-Exempt, making it eligible for compensatory or overtime pay as per FLSA regulations. The following duties are representative but not exhaustive; other tasks may be assigned.
- Assist library patrons with circulation processes.
- Manage check-in and check-out of materials.
- Utilize Sirsi circulation software effectively.
- Conduct item searches using WYLDcat.
- Create library cards for patrons.
- Process fines and maintain transaction records.
- Organize and shelve materials appropriately.
- Support technical services, including materials processing, inventory management, and collection upkeep.
- Engage in various projects such as light typing, filing, data entry, maintaining patron supplies, operating office equipment, ensuring clear walkways, answering phones, and performing other office-related tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to comprehend and follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Strong customer service skills, demonstrating efficiency and courtesy.
- Proficient in operating telephones, computers, printers, photocopiers, scanners, electric typewriters, telefax, and laminating machines, with the capability to troubleshoot basic issues.
- Clerical skills, including accurate alphabetical and numerical filing and light data entry.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Frequent movement within the assigned workspace and throughout campus facilities.
- Capability to lift, bend, stoop, and reach for materials on upper shelves.
- Regular use of a personal computer, including keyboard and mouse operations, as well as monitoring a computer screen.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 35 pounds occasionally.
- Vision requirements include close and distance vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
- The work environment necessitates mental agility to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Noise levels in the workplace are typically moderate, with occasional louder sounds.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in customer service.
- Proficiency in computer usage, including familiarity with MS Office applications, email, and internet navigation.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with the SIRSI/DYNIX integrated library system.
