Job Responsibilities: The primary duties associated with this role include:

Assisting library users with circulation functions while ensuring a tidy and organized workspace.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on current institutional requirements.

Compensation: $13.33/hr, commensurate with experience and education.

Key Responsibilities:This position is classified as Non-Exempt, meaning it is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The following list of essential duties is not exhaustive, and other tasks may be assigned.

  • Support library patrons with circulation activities.
  • Process check-ins and check-outs of materials.
  • Utilize Sirsi circulation software effectively.
  • Conduct item searches using WYLDcat.
  • Create library membership cards.
  • Collect fines and document transactions.
  • Organize and shelve materials.
  • Assist with technical services, including processing materials, conducting inventory, and maintaining collections.
  • Engage in various tasks such as light typing, filing, data entry, managing patron supplies, operating office equipment, ensuring clear walkways, answering phones, and performing other administrative duties.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to comprehend and follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Capability to deliver efficient and courteous customer service.
  • Proficiency in operating telephones, computers, printers, photocopiers, scanners, electric typewriters, fax machines, and laminators, including basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Clerical abilities must include accurate alphabetical and numerical filing, as well as light data entry and typing.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • This role requires frequent movement within the assigned workspace and throughout various campus facilities.
  • Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, and reach high shelves.
  • Daily tasks may involve prolonged use of a computer, including keyboard and mouse operations, as well as monitoring a computer screen.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The work environment necessitates the mental agility to quickly shift focus due to interruptions, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate, but may occasionally include louder sounds.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Familiarity with computers, including knowledge of MS Office applications, email, and the Internet.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the SIRSI/DYNIX integrated library system.

Successful candidates will be subject to a background check. LCCC reserves the right to terminate employment should the background investigation yield unsatisfactory results.
