POSITION TITLE:

Library Aide - Learning Resource Center, University Libraries DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Learning Resource Center provides support to K-8 students at the Lab School, which is part of the Albany County School District, as well as to UW students, faculty, and staff.

WORK LOCATION:

Education Building

COMPENSATION:

Starting pay is $12 per hour, with an increase to $12.35 per hour following the successful completion of the first semester of employment.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

To assist staff with library operations and customer service responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage circulation tasks: check in and out library materials, re-shelve items
  • Provide assistance to library patrons
  • Carry out administrative duties
  • Support special projects as assigned

REMOTE WORK POLICY:

This role is essential for supporting campus users and requires the selected candidate to be present on campus.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: Background in customer service
Additional Criteria: Must be eligible and have accepted a work-study award through Student Financial Aid for the relevant semester or academic year.

  • Willingness and ability to work with children.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience in a library setting

EDUCATIONAL ADVANTAGES FOR CAREER DEVELOPMENT:

Skills in customer service that are transferable to various career paths. Experience gained is beneficial for those pursuing Early Childhood and K-6 education majors.
