POSITION TITLE:
Library Aide - Learning Resource Center, University Libraries
DEPARTMENT DETAILS:
The Learning Resource Center provides essential services to K-8 students at the Lab School, part of the Albany County School District, along with support for UW students, faculty, and staff.
Work Location: Education Building
Compensation:
Starting pay is $12/hour, increasing to $12.35/hour upon successful completion of the first semester.
ROLE OBJECTIVE:
Support library staff with various tasks related to library operations and customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage circulation tasks: check in/out library materials and re-shelve items
- Assist library patrons
- Perform administrative duties
- Contribute to special projects as assigned
This role is essential for campus operations and requires on-site presence.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: Background in customer service
Additional Requirements: Must have received and accepted a work-study award through Student Financial Aid for the relevant semester or academic year.
- Willingness and ability to work with children.
- Prior experience in a library setting
Skills gained in customer service are transferable to numerous career paths. Experience gained is particularly relevant for Early Childhood and K-6 education majors.
