Job Summary

MRD Lighting is seeking a skilled Lighting Procurement Specialist to coordinate the procurement and distribution of equipment, materials, parts, and supplies for our Lighting Design, Custom and Build Firm located in LIC, NY with international clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all activities related to procurement of equipment, materials, parts, and supplies starting with intent to purchase through to delivery of product to client.
  • Analyze client requirements of equipment, materials, parts, and supplies, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date needed.
  • Investigate and/or interview potential suppliers to determine if they meet specified requirements.
  • Negotiate lowest possible cost for equipment, materials, parts, and supplies balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs.
  • Create purchase orders that comply with company standards, contracts, and client requirements.
  • Assure that specified product is delivered on schedule, at negotiated price, and meets quality standards of company and end client.
  • Work closely with company Logistics to ensure logistics needs are met (worldwide shipping of product).
  • Arrange product deliveries to company with factory to ensure client deadlines are met.
  • Update Procurement sheets (Google Docs) so that company and clients can view up-to-date information on when product leaves factories and deliveries will happen.
  • Work hand-in-hand with Owner, Business Development, and Designers to develop partnership in lighting industry.
  • Resolve vendor/factory order and delivery issues.
  • Manage and resolve quality control issues.
  • Research discrepancies between equipment, materials, parts, and supplies delivered against specs, orders, and invoices. Resolve any issues.
  • Review new technologies, equipment, materials, and products for possible future use.
Requirements
  • Three years demonstrated experience in purchasing or related areas; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Experience with Lighting/Lighting background is preferred.
  • Theatrical Lighting knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures/specs.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, vendors, and clients.
  • Ability to apply mathematical calculations regarding estimates.
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, inventory, order processing, QuickBooks, project management, and design software.
  • Ability to communicate in person, electronically, and over the telephone.
