Position Overview
The Clinical Unit Supervisor (LPN or RN) plays a crucial management role, overseeing the delivery of quality resident care and providing leadership to nursing staff on designated units during assigned shifts. This position is responsible for ensuring that nursing standards are upheld and that residents receive optimal care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily evaluations of resident care and staff performance, serving as a liaison between nursing staff and administration.
- Interpret and communicate policies, procedures, and standards to nursing personnel, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Disseminate relevant organizational and departmental information to supervisors and nursing units.
- Maintain accurate records related to nursing unit operations, resident conditions, and services provided.
- Identify staffing, supply, and equipment needs, contributing to corrective action plans.
- Demonstrate effective crisis management skills in emergency situations.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations concerning resident assessments and care planning.
- Assess and recommend enhancements to improve the quality of resident care.
- Engage with residents, families, physicians, and staff to ensure resident satisfaction.
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with nursing personnel, residents, families, and ancillary staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current R.N. or LPN licensure in the state of practice.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- A minimum of three years of nursing experience, with at least two years in a long-term care environment.
- At least one year of previous leadership experience.
