Position Overview
The Nurse Unit Manager (LPN or RN) plays a crucial role in overseeing the delivery of exceptional resident care. This management position involves leading nursing staff on designated units during assigned shifts, ensuring that nursing standards are upheld and that residents receive the highest quality of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily assessments of the nursing unit, evaluating both resident care and staff performance while serving as a communication link between staff and nursing administration.
- Interpret and enforce policies, procedures, and regulations, providing guidance and corrective actions as necessary to nursing personnel.
- Facilitate communication of relevant organizational and departmental updates to supervisors and nursing units.
- Maintain accurate records related to nursing unit operations, resident conditions, census data, and services provided.
- Identify staffing, supply, and equipment needs, contributing to corrective action plans.
- Demonstrate the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations concerning resident assessments and care plan execution.
- Assess and propose enhancements in areas impacting the quality of resident care.
- Engage with residents, families, physicians, and staff to ensure satisfaction and address concerns.
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with nursing staff, residents, families, and ancillary personnel.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current R.N. or LPN licensure in the respective state.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- A minimum of three years of nursing experience, with at least two years in a long-term care environment.
- At least one year of prior leadership experience.
