Position Overview:

The Surgical Services Nursing Supervisor plays a pivotal role in assisting the Manager with the operational oversight of surgical services within the healthcare facility. This includes managing the daily functions of the Operating Room (OR), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and Endoscopy. The Supervisor is accountable to the Surgical Services Manager and is instrumental in fostering a collaborative environment that promotes efficient patient care and interdepartmental cooperation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Collaborates with the Manager to identify and implement cost-effective strategies that enhance operational efficiency. Responsible for resource allocation and staffing management, ensuring optimal patient care delivery.
  • Team Leadership: Aids in the recruitment and onboarding of nursing staff. Provides guidance and support to team members, conducts performance evaluations, and addresses any disciplinary issues that arise.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensures adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies. Prepares for audits and assessments, maintaining high-quality care standards.
  • Quality Improvement: Develops and revises care protocols, ensuring compliance with established standards. Works closely with other departments to resolve issues and improve patient outcomes.
  • Training and Development: Coordinates orientation and ongoing training for new hires and existing staff, ensuring they are well-versed in current practices and technologies.
  • Additional Duties: Undertakes other responsibilities as assigned by the Surgical Services Manager.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in surgical settings.
  • At least two (2) years in a leadership or advanced practice nursing role.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Licensure:

  • Active Registered Nurse License in the relevant state.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of experience in Surgical Services.
  • Prior leadership experience in a clinical setting.
  • Certification as a CNOR.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field.

Work Schedule:

This position typically follows a Monday to Friday schedule with rotating weekend on-call responsibilities.
