Position Title: Commercial Sales Application Engineer – Port Solutions

Department: Industrial Systems / Commercial Sales Application Engineering

Role Overview:

The Commercial Sales Application Engineer will be responsible for crafting precise and timely commercial proposals along with technical specifications to bolster the sales process and conduct thorough cost analyses for all specifications.

This role requires establishing a robust network of commercial and technical evaluators with clients and vendors to cultivate a pipeline of prospective business opportunities within the metals and material handling sectors.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop commercial proposals and technical specifications for drive and automation systems that align with client RFQ requirements, effectively communicating these needs to both clients and the internal engineering team.
  • Collaborate with clients and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to define comprehensive solutions that encompass hardware and software requirements for projects.
  • Prepare detailed cost elements for technical specifications and devise pricing strategies aimed at maximizing project margins.
  • Solicit client feedback to identify enhancements in product or service features.
  • Design competitive technical approaches to address client challenges.
  • Provide insights on product and system improvements to management.
  • Draft specifications for necessary components and evaluate supplier proposals to determine the most effective technical and economical solutions.
  • Deliver presentations at technical conferences and client meetings as required.
  • Review marketing materials for technical accuracy.
  • Guide the preparation, review, and finalization of commercial proposals for clients.
  • Lead the development of technical and commercial proposals for smaller projects with minimal supervision.
  • Identify and recommend new products and applications to stimulate business growth.
  • Monitor industry trends to suggest new product and service features.
  • Analyze competitive offerings and assess client needs to propose tailored solutions.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in systems or application engineering within the metals or material handling industry or related complex control systems.
  • Proven track record as a valuable team member in project settings.
  • Strong personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Established successful relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% with limited notice.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 or more years of experience in systems or application engineering in the metals industry or related complex control systems.
  • Demonstrated success in client-facing roles, sales, or marketing.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Sales Cloud or similar client relationship management systems.
