The role of the Technical Sales Engineer – Metals Solutions is pivotal in our Industrial Systems / Commercial Sales Application Engineering department. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive commercial proposals and technical specifications for drive and automation systems, ensuring alignment with client RFQ requirements.
  • Establish and nurture a network of commercial and technical relationships with clients and vendors to foster a robust pipeline of business opportunities within the metals and material handling sectors.
  • Collaborate with clients and OEMs to define project solutions, encompassing both hardware and software requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for technical specifications and devise pricing strategies aimed at optimizing project margins.
  • Solicit client feedback to identify potential enhancements in product or service features.
  • Design innovative and competitive technical solutions to address client challenges.
  • Provide constructive feedback on products and systems, identifying service improvement opportunities for management consideration.
  • Compile specifications for necessary components and evaluate supplier proposals to determine the most effective technical and economical solutions.
  • Conduct presentations at technical conferences and client meetings, as required.
  • Review marketing materials for technical accuracy and provide guidance during the preparation and finalization of commercial proposals.
  • Lead the development of technical and commercial proposals for smaller projects with minimal supervision.
  • Identify and recommend new products and applications to stimulate business growth.
  • Monitor industry trends to suggest new product and service features.
  • Analyze the competitive landscape to identify emerging products and technologies, providing comparative insights to commercial and R&D teams.
  • Assess client needs against competitor offerings to propose tailored solutions.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in systems or application engineering within the metals or material handling industries, or related complex control systems.
  • Proven track record as a valuable team member in project settings.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Established relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 50%, with limited notice.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in systems or application engineering within the metals industry or related complex control systems.
  • Demonstrated success in client-facing roles, particularly in sales or marketing.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Sales Cloud or similar CRM systems.
