Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Cost Manager to provide a full suite of project control services, including estimating, budget development, procurement support, post-contract cost management, and change orders. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting clients in discussing and providing guidance on the best procurement route for the project
  • Developing a detailed cost plan with the client, including understanding site layout, conditions, and constraints
  • Reviewing and presenting cost estimates and cost plans as required
  • Driving value engineering and offering cost insights to support business decisions
  • Finalizing and presenting value engineering and life cycle costing options as required
  • Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity take-offs
  • Preparing detailed estimates and cost plans
  • Reporting to senior leadership on current estimated cost vs. budget
  • Performing bid evaluations and cost negotiations
  • Managing the RFP documentation management process
  • Managing the post-contract process
  • Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessments, and other documents
  • Advising managers and clients on improvements and new strategies
  • Recording any changes in design and updating budgets
  • Traveling to various sites as required
  • Performing additional duties as assigned
  • Preparing and presenting high-level cost advice as required
  • Overseeing the pre-contract process and monitoring the allocation of internal resources
  • Attending client meetings as Soben leads and ensuring actions are executed post-meeting
  • Keeping the client apprised of any issues from design team meetings as appropriate
  • Reviewing the landlord lease and advising if landlord delivery conditions meet the client's requirements
  • Being responsible for all quality assurance across all team deliverables
  • Performing additional duties as assigned
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost management
  • MRICS or similar preferred
  • Understanding of current health and safety legislation and OSHA certification
  • Proficiency in the use of advanced functions in CostX to produce estimates, bills, etc.
  • Proficiency in the use of required functions in Microsoft Office skills
  • In-depth industry knowledge and application of knowledge of relevant construction technologies and trends (sustainability) to advise on appropriate options and cost implications
  • Chartered status and ability to assist colleagues in achieving their APC through coaching, mentoring, becoming a supervisor/assessor, etc.
  • Outstanding negotiation skills
  • Team player with the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing
