Job Overview

The Lead Project Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing and implementing new product onboarding initiatives. This position entails the establishment and management of product specifications, testing protocols, import documentation, completion reports, pre-shipment inspections, and various other program-related tasks. The individual will collaborate with external service providers, product engineers, and essential internal stakeholders to guarantee that all onboarding procedures are executed efficiently and adhere to relevant federal, state, and local regulations, in alignment with WESCO's policies and procedures. This role does not involve direct reports but will oversee the work of third-party contractors.
  • Engage with Service Providers (SP) to formulate, standardize, and validate testing protocols across all affected products.
  • Ensure that all onboarding processes are clearly defined and adhered to by all external entities.
  • Manage regulatory change notifications as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Experience in vendor management is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to produce clear and precise project documentation is imperative.
  • Quick situational analysis and decisive action are necessary.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills are required.
  • Plan and execute onboarding initiatives effectively.
  • Consult with the China Procurement center regarding supplier training and data collection.
  • Oversee the completion of third-party agency tasks, including DOE, EPA, Energy Star, and state chemical reporting, either internally or through third-party agents.
  • Conduct test report audits to ensure compliance.
  • Support investigations of non-compliance events and assist in all identified Corrective/Preventive Actions (CAPAs) resulting from Non-Conformance and/or Complaint investigations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for gathering necessary information from relevant stakeholders to assist in investigations.
  • Execute notifications within established regulatory frameworks and ensure timely resolution of all Complaints/Events.
Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience as a Project Engineer.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Technical Compliance requirements for products classified as 'Importer of Record' in the USA.
  • Familiarity with government agencies and retail product regulations such as CFRs, UL, DOE, CEC, NSF, and EPA.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Basic understanding of supplier Corrective Action Plans (CAPA).
  • Experience in reviewing and enhancing DFMEA/PFMEA and control plans.
  • Ability to thrive in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Business acumen and understanding of merchandising principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Education
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
  • A Master's Degree is preferred.
Skills
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and support concepts, including ITIL, BICSI, LEAN, and others.
