The University of Chicago Booth School of Business is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate Director, Prospect Research to lead a team responsible for identifying and researching high-level donors and prospects. This is a key role in the Advancement Operations Team, working closely with senior leaders to develop and implement prospect research strategies.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide program leadership for the Prospect Research Team, including coaching and mentoring team members, and creating and executing projects and processes.
- Supervise the execution of prospect research, including prospect identification, capacity ratings, and wealth screening projects.
- Facilitate the creation of briefing materials on individual prospects for senior leaders, including the dean and deputy deans.
- Manage and mentor two Senior Assistant Directors, Prospect Research, and collaborate with the Director, Prospect Development and Campaign.
- Work collaboratively with other Advancement Operations Teams, fundraisers, and senior staff to implement prospect research strategies and identify research needs.
- Develop and synthesize information on prospects to produce clear profiles, including background, career, financial capacity, philanthropic interests, and relationships with the University and Booth.
- Identify new prospects to grow the Booth prospect pool and participate in strategic prospect identification projects.
- Stay current on industry trends and practices, and implement best practices to ensure the team remains at the forefront of innovative and effective research methods.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- A minimum of five years of industry experience in prospect research required.
- A minimum of two years of management experience required.
- Experience with fundraising databases such as Salesforce required.
- Experience with prospect research tools and applications such as iWave, LexisNexis, Aidentified, Pitchbook, required.
- Ability to motivate, lead, and manage a team, as well as work well with and through others.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
- Knowledge of current trends in fundraising and alumni relations, including benchmarking and metrics.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to customer service.
- Scrupulous attention to matters of discretion and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with the Windows environment and standard MS Office suite.
