About the Role:

The University of Illinois Chicago Office of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented professional to join our team as an Associate Director of Development. This role will play a pivotal part in driving fundraising efforts and building strong relationships with donors and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage a portfolio of major and planned gift donors, employing appropriate strategies and tactics in prospect and portfolio management.
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit alumni and friends in support of unit and University priorities.
  • Meet or exceed annual performance metrics, including approximately 120 visits per year with UIC alumni and donors to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donations.
  • Collaborate with the dean, department heads, faculty, and other key partners across Advancement and unit to build a compelling case for support.
  • Presents the unit's funding opportunities articulately, persuasively, and with confidence.
  • Prepare and present proposals to prospects and donors, working with central communications and donor relations when appropriate.
  • Partner with unit leadership, Advancement colleagues, faculty, and volunteers to develop and promote compelling engagement opportunities and relationships with assigned prospects to maximize their financial support of the unit's fundraising priorities.
  • Facilitate and coordinate all communications with assigned prospects and among prospects' University relationships.
  • Tracks development activity and donor interactions by entering key interactions and strategies into the fundraising database.
  • Work closely with director of portfolio management and researchers to review alumni/donor lists in order to identify donor prospects.
  • Assist with the preparation of unit-based events and participates in unit- and University-wide events at which alumni, friends, donors, and/or prospects are present.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or a foreign equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in development or related field.
  • Proven success in securing and conducting face-to-face meetings to build and grow relationships.
  • The ability, credibility, and capacity to build and sustain effective relationships and partnerships with colleagues and constituencies that are integral to success in the role.
  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation, business development, organization, and computer/pc skills are required.
  • Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong database skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in a higher education or non-profit setting.
  • Experience using alumni/donor database.
