Job Overview

As an Import Operations Manager, you will oversee the management of import transactions for our clientele. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of import logistics with suppliers, manufacturers, and import agents, aiming to optimize cost efficiency and profit margins while ensuring quality standards are upheld.

Key Responsibilities

Import Management:

  • Expertise in import logistics from sourcing to final delivery.
  • Assess the advantages and disadvantages of various geographic sourcing locations.
  • Comprehend manufacturing procedures at the production level.
  • Familiarity with supply chain dynamics.
  • Insight into global sourcing and importation practices.
  • Identify and collaborate with reliable vendors and suppliers.

Supplier Coordination:

  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, limitations, and product lines.
  • Work with the logistics team to facilitate the transport of goods from suppliers to storage or client sites.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant international regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Plan delivery schedules based on import timelines.
  • Maintain an updated Supplier Contact List and Shipping Information.
  • Supervise quality assurance and sample evaluations with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Negotiate return policies with suppliers to mitigate potential losses.

Category Strategy:

  • Develop annual continuity programs tailored for clients.
  • Create engaging presentations for the sales team to utilize in client meetings.
  • Formulate and execute effective sourcing and category management strategies.
  • Collaborate with the sales team on new initiatives and relay requirements to importers.
  • Analyze cost of goods sold to ensure optimal quality at minimal expense.
  • Manage inventory to align with customer demand and seasonal trends.
  • Engage with Procurement, Sales, and Operations teams as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline.
  • 2-3 years of experience in import management or product sourcing.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Results-driven with strong analytical capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in achieving objectives.
  • Goal-oriented with a track record of high achievement.
