Role Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during surgical procedures.
  • Prepare patients and surgical areas according to the specific requirements of various procedures.
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments to ensure patient understanding and readiness for surgery, including performing a "timeout" with the surgical team.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Surgical Services team, demonstrating adaptability and resourcefulness.
  • Uphold accountability for delivering high-quality nursing care and fostering a positive image of the nursing profession.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program is essential; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in an Operating Room is mandatory.
  • A valid Registered Nurse License in Texas or a Multi-State Compact License is required (Texas RN License must be obtained within 90 days for those with a Compact License).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are necessary.
  • Certification in Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) is preferred.
