OVERVIEW

The primary responsibility of the Safety and Security Specialist is to ensure a secure and protected environment for team members, visitors, and assets. This role includes providing escort services and assistance based on customer service needs. The Specialist conducts regular safety patrols and serves as the first responder during emergencies. Additionally, this position is tasked with safeguarding the Company's Store Support Center or Distribution Centers. The Specialist will oversee the access control badge system to verify that all personnel, visitors, and contractors possess the necessary access rights to fulfill their responsibilities, while restricting unauthorized entry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain a visible presence and be observant, welcoming team members, guests, contractors, and vendors in a professional and attentive manner.
  • Respond promptly to alarms and medical emergencies, as well as incidents involving disruptive individuals or disorderly conduct, ensuring swift and appropriate action.
  • Manage access control areas to prevent unauthorized individuals from entering the premises, including maintaining the ProWatch access control system by creating, deleting, and modifying access badges.
  • Oversee the Trailer Control Post, adhering to all procedures to comply with C-TPAT requirements and the company's security protocols for trailer management.
  • Conduct patrols of both the interior and exterior of the premises, as well as vehicle and bag inspections as directed.
  • Communicate effectively with other security personnel across all shifts to ensure comprehensive coverage and protection.
  • Observe, report, and document safety hazards, property damage, vandalism, theft incidents, and other relevant occurrences in a timely manner.
  • Identify and take corrective actions to mitigate situations that could lead to loss of life, injury, or damage to company property.
  • Monitor the interior and exterior of the building using the CCTV system.
  • Keep an eye on weather conditions and coordinate snow removal and salting for parking lots and walkways as necessary.
  • Assist in conducting shelter-in-place and evacuation drills to prepare for potential emergencies.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education: Associate degree in a related field

Minimum Experience: 0-2 years in security or a related field

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Familiarity with CCTV, Access Control, and Intrusion systems.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certification - can be obtained post-hire.
