Overview of the Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) Role

HopeHealth is in search of a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join its affiliate, HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care. This role is centered around providing exceptional nursing care at the Hulitar Hospice Center, focusing on the patient, family, and/or caregiver, as directed by the physician and in accordance with the regulations set forth by the State Board of Registered Nursing, the patient, and the policies of HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a sense of urgency balanced with a methodical approach, ensuring precision and quality in their work. Their methodology will be well-considered, based on a comprehensive understanding of all relevant information. The successful applicant will possess technical proficiency, exhibiting confidence in their professional expertise and the ability to execute tasks efficiently and accurately.

This full-time night position requires working three 12-hour shifts from 7pm to 7:30am, including a commitment to every third weekend. Additionally, this role is eligible for benefits and a SIGN ON Bonus of up to $2,500.

Key Responsibilities of the Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Greet and admit patients and families to the Inpatient Unit in a professional, compassionate, and responsive manner.
  • Deliver nursing care by applying all components of the nursing process, coordinating patient care from initial assessment through discharge. This includes:
    1. Developing and implementing a care plan in collaboration with the patient, caregiver, and primary health professional.
    2. Regularly reassessing patient and family needs, adapting to changes as necessary.
    3. Conducting ongoing evaluations and adjustments to care based on patient outcomes.
  • Oversee patient admissions and care, including comprehensive nursing assessments and the completion of all necessary documentation in line with organizational policies and standards.
  • Initiate and maintain the administration of medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
  • Employ appropriate preventive and therapeutic nursing procedures, maintaining communication regarding patient care with primary care providers and other health professionals.
  • Ensure accurate, relevant, and timely documentation of patient conditions and care provided, adhering to confidentiality policies.
  • Monitor patients for changes in condition, reporting these changes and the needs of patients and families to the attending physician and supervisory staff.
  • Support patients in daily living activities, promoting self-sufficiency and comfort care when suitable. Educate patients and families on self-care techniques as appropriate, providing instructions on medications, diet, and other directives from the physician.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, assessing the patient environment and educating families on home safety issues when discharge is appropriate.
  • Be available to mentor new staff for two to three shifts per week during the initial months of employment.
Qualifications for the Registered Nurse Position
  • RN license required; BSN preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong nursing assessment, clinical skills, and communication abilities.
  • Experience in home care or related fields preferred.
