With a capacity of 1,048 patient beds and 65 operating rooms, our facility is equipped with comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic resources, including a regional emergency/trauma center and an endo-surgery center.

Department Overview:

The Inpatient Nurse Transport Team (INTT) at Duke is dedicated to providing exceptional care during intra-hospital patient transfers. Our nurses deliver 1:1 care during non-ICU transports to various diagnostic and interventional procedures, ensuring continuity of care through assessment, cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and addressing any patient needs during transport. This service allows primary nurses to focus on their assigned patients.

Work Schedule:

Our nursing positions require availability for three shifts per week, with NO WEEKENDS required. Available shifts include Nights from 7 PM to 7 AM or Days from 9 AM to 9 PM, with flexibility needed for vacation coverage.

Position Summary:

As a Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse II at Duke University Health System, your primary focus will be on delivering patient-centered care. You will be responsible for overseeing both direct and indirect nursing care, employing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to meet departmental goals. You will provide specialized nursing care in accordance with the DUHS Professional Practice model and may participate in educational activities, departmental committees, and research initiatives. Your nursing services will align with the standards set by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Physical Requirements:

This role involves physical activity, including walking, lifting, and operating medical equipment. Candidates must be capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling patients as necessary and must possess full range of motion.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Bachelor's, Associate's, or Diploma) is mandatory.
  • Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in a BSN program within two years of employment and complete it within five years.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current registration with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing or compact RN licensure is required.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory (training will be provided if hired).
  • Professional specialty certification is preferred.
