Department Overview:

The Inpatient Nurse Transport Team (INTT) at Duke is dedicated to delivering outstanding care during intra-hospital patient transports. Our nurses provide one-on-one care for patients during non-ICU transfers to various diagnostic or interventional procedures, ensuring continuity of care through assessment, cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and addressing any patient needs during transport. This service allows primary nurses to focus on their assigned units.

Work Schedule:

Applicants must be available to work three shifts per week, with NO WEEKENDS required. Available shifts include Nights from 7 PM to 7 AM or Days from 9 AM to 9 PM, with flexibility needed for vacation coverage.

Position Summary:

As a Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse II at Duke University Health System, your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional service while caring for patients in a holistic manner. Responsibilities include providing and overseeing both direct and indirect nursing care, utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to meet departmental goals. You will plan and deliver advanced nursing care in accordance with the DUHS Professional Practice model and engage in educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, or other health-related initiatives as assigned. Nursing services will be provided to patients and families per the scope defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, while adhering to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires physical activity, including walking, lifting, and the operation of medical equipment. Candidates must possess the ability to lift, push, or pull patients as necessary and maintain a full range of motion.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree, or Nursing Diploma) is mandatory.
  • Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in a BSN program within two years of hire and complete it within five years.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current registration with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing or compact RN licensure to practice in North Carolina is required.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory (training will be provided if hired).
  • Professional specialty certification is preferred.
