About Duke University Hospital:

With a capacity of 1,048 patient beds and 65 operating rooms, our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic services, including a regional emergency/trauma center and an endo-surgery center.
Department Overview:
The Inpatient Nurse Transport Team (INTT) at Duke is dedicated to providing exceptional nursing care during intra-hospital patient transfers. Our nurses are responsible for delivering individualized care during non-ICU transports to various diagnostic and interventional procedures. This includes ongoing assessment, cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and addressing any patient needs throughout the transport process, allowing primary nurses to focus on their assigned patients.
Work Schedule:
Flexibility is essential, as candidates must be available to work three shifts per week. Weekends are not required.
Available shifts include Nights from 7 PM to 7 AM or Days from 9 AM to 9 PM, with the possibility of covering opposite shifts for vacation needs.
Position Summary:
As a Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse II within the Duke University Health System, your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality service while attending to the holistic needs of patients in a supportive environment. Responsibilities include supervising both direct and indirect nursing care, utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to meet departmental objectives. You will also engage in advanced nursing practices, participate in educational initiatives, departmental committees, and research projects as assigned. Nursing services will be provided in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing standards.
Physical Requirements:
This role involves physical activity, including walking, lifting, and operating medical equipment. A full range of motion is necessary, as well as the ability to transport patients to various locations within the hospital.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience is required.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree, or Nursing Diploma) is mandatory.
- Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in a BSN program within two years of hire and complete it within five years.
Licensure and Certifications:
- Current registration with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing or compact RN licensure to practice in North Carolina is required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory (training will be provided upon hire).
- Professional specialty certification is preferred.
