As the largest facility within Duke Health, it boasts 1,048 patient beds and 65 operating rooms, along with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, including a regional emergency/trauma center.
Department Overview:
The Inpatient Nurse Transport Team (INTT) at Duke is dedicated to providing exceptional nursing care during patient transfers within the hospital. Our team ensures that patients receive continuous, high-quality care during non-ICU transports to various diagnostic and interventional procedures. Responsibilities include patient assessment, cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and addressing any specific needs during transport, allowing primary nurses to focus on their unit assignments.
Work Schedule:
Successful candidates must be available to work three shifts per week, with NO WEEKENDS required. Shifts include Nights from 7 PM to 7 AM or Days from 9 AM to 9 PM, with flexibility needed for vacation coverage.
Position Summary:
As a Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse II within the Duke University Health System, your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional service while caring for patients in a holistic manner. You will be responsible for overseeing both direct and indirect nursing care, utilizing the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to meet departmental goals. This role involves providing specialized nursing care guided by the DUHS Professional Practice model and participating in various educational and research initiatives.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires physical activity, including walking, lifting, and the operation of medical equipment. Candidates must be capable of transporting patients to different hospital locations and possess a full range of motion.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience is required.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Bachelor's, Associate's, or Diploma) is necessary.
- Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in a BSN program within two years of hire and complete it within five years.
Licensure and Certifications:
- Current registration with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing or compact RN licensure for North Carolina is required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory (training will be provided if hired).
- Professional specialty certification is preferred.
