Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly qualified and empathetic Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our dedicated team. This role is essential in providing specialized support in oncology infusions and Radiation Oncology.
The ideal candidate will have a profound understanding of oncology nursing practices, infusion therapy, and patient-centered care. This position allows for a significant impact on the lives of patients undergoing cancer treatment through expert clinical care and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Educate patients and their families on treatment options, potential side effects, and self-care techniques to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Act as a resource and mentor for nursing staff, sharing knowledge on best practices and advancements in oncology care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to maintain continuity of care and effective communication throughout the patient's treatment journey.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and research projects to enhance oncology infusion services.
- Coordinate with nursing staff to identify and address patient care challenges, implementing and evaluating effective solutions.
- Conduct clinical evaluations and make informed clinical judgments to resolve complex issues.
- Participate in departmental committees to improve patient care and develop goals for specialized patient populations.
- Facilitate clinical experiences for nursing students in collaboration with nursing faculty.
- Develop and implement educational programs to enhance nursing personnel's specialized knowledge and skills.
- Support the professional development of nursing staff within specialty units.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, with a preference for oncology and infusion experience.
Licensure: Current RN licensure in North Carolina is required. BLS certification and Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) certification are mandatory.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Proficient in electronic health record systems and healthcare technology.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in oncology nursing.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
