Domain Architect

Position Overview

The primary objective of this role is to oversee and guide all architectural and design initiatives within a specific domain. This position is critical for ensuring that technology solutions not only fulfill functional and non-functional requirements but also align with the overarching digital transformation goals of the organization.

The Domain Architect will play a pivotal role in leading teams, fostering effective communication, and articulating technical, functional, and managerial insights to a diverse audience, ranging from business leaders to technical teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing secure, scalable, and resilient distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities:

As a member of the Domain leadership team, you will:

  • Contribute to the formulation of technology strategies and influence the direction of technological advancements.
  • Assume full responsibility for all architectural functions within the domain.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders and architects to achieve consensus on technology decisions.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Business Capability map for the domain.
  • Design and uphold the Technology Strategy, including current and future state architectures.
  • Engage in cross-domain architectural discussions and routines.
  • Support solution architecture by producing high-level and detailed design documents.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Domain Architecture Leader.

Accountabilities:

Responsibilities are categorized by the percentage of time allocated:

  • Domain Leadership Engagement (10%): Collaborate with the domain leadership team to drive technology strategy and validate the feasibility of proposals.
  • Engagement on Domain Objectives (15%): Work closely with stakeholders to gather business requirements and ensure compliance with architectural standards.
  • Supporting Solution Architecture (15%): Partner with Solution Architects to develop high-level designs and validate detailed designs.
  • Business Capabilities and Architecture Maintenance (15%): Create and assess business capability maps and technology roadmaps.
  • Documentation of Key Decisions (15%): Record decisions, risks, and consensus from discussions regarding design items.
  • Architecture Governance (20%): Oversee high-level and low-level designs, ensuring they meet established criteria and represent the domain in governance routines.
  • Cross-Domain Collaboration (10%): Engage with other domain architects to promote design consensus and share reusable design elements.
