Your New Role

In this pivotal position, you will provide comprehensive legal guidance and support on employment matters to our People & Culture and business leaders. Your primary focus will be on advising WarnerMedia's corporate divisions and operations, while also engaging with various client groups and initiatives across our global corporate functions. Collaborating closely with our internal employment legal team, you will offer daily advice and expertise on a wide array of employee relations and labor issues within the United States. Additionally, in partnership with the international employment legal team, you will oversee global initiatives and challenges, including the execution of international policies. This role will also involve managing a team of legal professionals, including paralegals and attorneys, providing strategic direction and prioritization in their daily activities. You will translate complex employment legislation and case law into clear, actionable guidance, enabling effective solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic global business landscape. Furthermore, you will conduct training sessions on critical legal topics for various client groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and counsel on labor and employment issues.
  • Support corporate initiatives and projects as assigned, including restructuring reviews and policy harmonization efforts.
  • Offer legal support for employment disputes and litigation, including administrative claims and arbitration processes.
  • Analyze, draft, and negotiate employment-related agreements while assisting WarnerMedia's contract administration team.
  • Lead and manage a team comprising attorneys and paralegals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience as a practicing labor and employment attorney.
  • Proven experience in a global context, ideally within the media sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising or managing other attorneys.
  • Juris Doctor degree.
  • Active member of a state bar in good standing, eligible to practice as in-house counsel in New York or Georgia.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor and employment law, particularly within the media industry, sufficient to prepare legal documents, represent WarnerMedia in legal proceedings, and advise management effectively.
  • Proficient in preparing, negotiating, and interpreting complex legal agreements and documents.
  • Capable of conducting legal research and providing comprehensive written and oral advice.
  • Skilled in supervising and evaluating legal, paralegal, and administrative staff.
