Role Summary

The Electrical Superintendent, Medium Voltage is tasked with managing field operations, ensuring safety, productivity, scheduling, quality control, and commissioning. This role involves close coordination with other superintendents and project leaders on-site and reports directly to the Senior Manager, Field Operations or designated senior management personnel. Frequent travel may be required as per project needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee solar and construction teams or subcontractors to ensure project completion on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Coordinate personnel, materials, and equipment to meet project timelines.
  • Assist in planning and implementing effective methods for project activities.
  • Analyze challenges, forecast potential issues, and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Adhere to and enforce the company's Health, Safety & Environmental Policy.
  • Identify necessary certifications and training for welding and other tasks.
  • Manage resources and activities to ensure safe and quality project execution.
  • Ensure all work complies with approved project scopes and standards.
  • Coordinate with supplier testing and commissioning teams.
  • Guide site teams on necessary documentation for commissioning.
  • Identify testing requirements based on project specifications.
  • Communicate with engineering teams to fulfill commissioning needs.
  • Maintain regular attendance as per company policy.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in managing major construction projects, preferably in power station or utility-scale construction.
  • Experience in solar PV, wind energy, or battery energy storage projects is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Proficient in MS Project or similar project management tools, with strong technical skills.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in English, with bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience in reviewing electrical and mechanical installation manuals and technical documentation.
  • Assertive, capable of working under pressure, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Detail-oriented with effective time management skills.
  • Experience in interacting with external representatives and testing agencies.
  • Familiarity with operating solar power facilities and associated equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire electrical department, managing 15 crews and 100-150 personnel.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing and movement throughout an 8-10 hour workday.
  • Ability to enter and exit equipment regularly.
  • Frequent bending, standing, and walking.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to hear and speak clearly.
  • Regular use of sight for various tasks.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs and traversing different work areas.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% as needed.

Work Environment

  • Typical construction site setting with varying noise levels.
  • Flexibility to work night shifts as required.
