Job Summary:

Mount Auburn Hospital is seeking a skilled Observation Specialist to join our team. As an Observation Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough observations of assigned patients to identify potential safety risks and intervene as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff to ensure patient expectations are met and to report any changes in patient behavior.
  • Provide continuous support to patients, remaining with them at all times to prevent harm and promote a safe environment.
  • Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to calm patients and prevent aggressive behavior.
  • Remove any objects that may pose a risk to patient safety.
  • Accompany patients to medical examinations and procedures as needed.
  • Document all observations and incidents in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Respond promptly and effectively in emergency situations, prioritizing patient safety above all else.
  • Assist patients with basic activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training a plus.
  • Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods, with a strong attention to detail.
