Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Observation Worker to join our team at Mount Auburn Hospital. As an Observation Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe patients for signs of harm, danger, or violent behavior and communicate with nursing staff to understand patient expectations.
  • Remain with patients at all times, unless relieved by another staff member, and use verbal intervention to calm patients and prevent escalation of conflict.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to remove objects that could be used to harm patients and accompany patients to examinations, therapies, and other areas as needed.
  • Report any changes in patient behavior or condition to nursing staff and complete required documents.
  • Respond appropriately in emergency situations and maintain a calm manner.
  • Respect patient confidentiality and direct questions to nursing staff.
  • Assist patients with basic activities of daily living, such as toileting and hygiene, in collaboration with clinical staff.

Requirements:

  • Verbal, quantitative, and interpersonal skills, normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma.
  • Related experience in a healthcare setting or student in a healthcare field.
  • CPI training preferred.
  • Ability to remain alert for extended periods of time.
