The Lycée International de Boston is in search of a committed and enthusiastic part-time Behavioral Support Specialist for our Elementary School division. This role is pivotal in assisting educators with behavioral challenges faced by students, delivering direct interventions when necessary, and developing tailored behavior support strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Student Engagement
- Deliver both direct and consultative therapeutic services aimed at intervention and prevention across various grade levels, including individual and small group support.
- Monitor and assess identified students within classroom settings, participate in meetings, and assist in crafting personalized learning plans (PLPs) and progress evaluations.
- Formulate and execute behavior support strategies for classroom environments.
- Create individualized behavior management programs tailored to students' needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, faculty, and parents on behavior management techniques and training based on ABA principles.
- Provide training and model the application of behavior support strategies for teaching teams.
- Observe faculty in action and offer constructive feedback and training as necessary.
- Engage in team consultation meetings with classroom educators and related service providers.
- Address inquiries and concerns regarding students' social and behavioral traits.
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Classroom Needs Assessments, Home Needs Assessments, and other evaluations as required.
- Participate in IEP meetings upon request from public school districts.
- Carry out evaluations related to social and behavioral functioning as part of students' re-evaluations as requested by public school districts.
- Track and document student progress, adjusting plans based on gathered data.
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues, ensuring open channels to support student achievement, with an emphasis on understanding diverse communication styles.
- Contribute to the school community by engaging in duties, extracurricular activities, school events, and committees.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills, stay informed on educational trends, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students by fostering a secure environment conducive to learning and growth, and taking proactive measures to prevent and address any harm to students.
