The Role

We are looking for a proficient and organized bid manager to join our Sales Operations team.

In this role, you will oversee the entire bid process, from identifying opportunities to submitting proposals. This entails ensuring the prompt delivery of high-quality proposals that fulfill client specifications, effectively managing the bid budget and resources, and ensuring compliance with all RFP requirements and guidelines. The bid manager will also maintain awareness of market trends and competitor activities to inform bid strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the comprehensive bid process, including opportunity identification, qualification, and proposal submission.
  • Formulate and implement bid strategies that align with company objectives and client needs.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including sales, technical, legal, and finance, to ensure all bid aspects are addressed.
  • Manage bidding budgets, resources, and timelines to guarantee timely and high-quality proposal submissions.
  • Identify new business opportunities by monitoring public and defense sector tender portals.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate bid documentation, including bid files, communication records, and pricing information.
  • Ensure adherence to client requirements, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Analyze bid performance metrics to identify areas for enhancement.

Your Responsibilities

  • Research and assess new business opportunities through market analysis, competitor evaluations, and client needs assessments.
  • Coordinate the entire bid management process, including reviewing bid invitations and conducting bid/no-bid analyses.
  • Create compelling bid content, including executive summaries, value propositions, pricing models, and technical responses.
  • Work with internal stakeholders, such as sales, operations, and subject matter experts, to gather information and develop bid strategies.
  • Facilitate bid review meetings, ensuring key stakeholders provide input and address any concerns.
  • Develop pricing strategies in collaboration with Line of Business leaders to create competitive pricing that meets bid requirements and profitability goals.
  • Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to ensure all bid proposals meet legal and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate bid performance metrics, analyzing win/loss data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Conduct post-bid analyses and debrief sessions to identify improvement areas and implement lessons learned for future bids.
  • Continuously enhance bid processes, templates, and best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market insights, and emerging best practices in bid management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or APMP certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in bid management, proposal management, or a similar role, preferably within the Defense and Aerospace sector.
  • Proven ability to implement best practices and adapt processes to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Experience managing bids for complex projects or large-scale contracts.
  • Ability to lead a team and expand the role into a Bid team leadership position.
  • Knowledge of government procurement processes and regulations.
  • Demonstrated success in securing bids through effective proposal management.
  • Strong understanding of the bid lifecycle, proposal writing, and development.
  • Familiarity with the Defense and Aerospace market, contract laws, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in bid management software and capability to manage new tools and process implementations.
  • Ability to implement budgetary and cost-control measures.
  • Attention to detail and high accuracy in bid preparation and review.
  • Familiarity with government procurement processes and industry-specific bid requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at various levels.
  • Exposure to the Shipley Capture Management process.
  • Ability to create visually appealing and engaging bid presentations.
  • Understanding of pricing strategies and financial analysis in bid development.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple bids simultaneously.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate bid opportunities and develop winning strategies.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
