International Operations Specialist

As an International Operations Specialist within the International Logistics Team, you play a vital role in our supply chain framework, facilitating the movement of products from various global locations to our U.S. retail outlets. In a dynamic retail environment, each day presents unique challenges. The International Operations Specialist manages the import supply chain for TJX, overseeing the flow of goods from origin countries to U.S. ports. You will assess operational processes, pinpoint areas for improvement, and implement enhancements that align with both the overseas supply chain and TJX's business objectives. Establish and nurture collaborative partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders. Supervise the daily operations of freight forwarders and third-party logistics providers for TJX direct import shipments. Ensure that logistics service providers fulfill their contractual commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee direct import operations and manage our third-party freight forwarders within a designated global region.
  • Ensure successful execution of all international inbound operations activities through our 3PL partners, including:
  • Monitoring freight movement from origin to guarantee timely product arrival.
  • Coordinating shipment schedules and planning.
  • Addressing and resolving exceptions.
  • Engaging in daily interactions with vendors and inbound logistics providers.
  • Maintaining operational procedures and departmental manuals for overseas operations.
  • Collaborating with Global Buying Offices to address their logistics requirements.
  • Managing inbound operational performance to optimize capacity planning, container utilization, and 3PL effectiveness.
  • Working alongside divisions, freight forwarders, Global Buying Offices, agents, carriers, merchants, and distribution services to enhance merchandise flow throughout the supply chain.
  • Overseeing supply chain partners, including TJX merchandise vendors and overseas forwarders, to meet TJX standards and improve network efficiency.
  • Evaluating logistics provider performance against service levels and KPIs, identifying gaps, and developing corrective action plans to address service deficiencies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or Operations is required; an MBA is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management.
  • Experience in international freight forwarding and/or third-party logistics operations management.
  • Proficient analytical skills with advanced knowledge of MS Excel, including complex pivot tables and vlookups.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; adaptability is essential in the fast-paced off-price retail sector.
  • Capacity to thrive in a demanding, high-velocity environment; quick responses to incoming requests are crucial.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage timelines and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Capability to influence others without direct authority and a willingness to learn quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills with a talent for building and maintaining relationships; you represent TJX to numerous external strategic partners.
  • Flexibility and adaptability; priorities may shift frequently based on business needs, necessitating the ability to pivot swiftly.
