As a Patient Access Representative, you will serve as the initial point of contact for patients at Cedars-Sinai, playing a crucial role in their healthcare journey. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the registration process for patients seeking treatment. Ensuring high-quality service and effective communication with patients and their families will be your top priority.

Key Responsibilities:

The Patient Access Rep I is responsible for managing all admission processes for both pre-admission and in-person registration of patients arriving at the medical center for care. This role includes:

  • Facilitating patient access to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
  • Collecting and securing all necessary demographic and financial registration information
  • Conducting registration and pre-registration activities
  • Verifying insurance coverage and eligibility
  • Screening for Third Party Liability (TPL)
  • Confirming Medi-Cal / Medicare eligibility
  • Assessing Workers Compensation eligibility
  • Collecting cash deposits, including co-pays and deductibles

You will also be expected to provide clear explanations and answer any questions patients may have. Demonstrating proficiency in your role, you will interact with customers with sensitivity and a focus on the patient populations served.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED is required
  • Preferred: Two (2) years of college education

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience is required, ideally in a healthcare environment
  • Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in healthcare, insurance, or a related field
  • Previous experience in an inpatient or outpatient admissions setting or a physician's office is preferred
  • Knowledge of patient accounting or experience with insurance payors is advantageous
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred
  • Basic computer skills and navigation proficiency are required
  • Bilingual abilities are considered a plus
