Nurse Residency Program for Recent Graduates

The Centerpoint Medical Center Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive training program designed to support the transition of new graduate nurses into professional nursing practice. This program provides a structured learning environment, hands-on experience, and mentorship from experienced nurses to help new graduates develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in today's hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Perform the administration of prescribed medications.
- Monitor patient for therapeutic response.
- Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
- Other Certifications may be required during employment.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State.
Centerpoint Medical Center is a 285+ bed hospital featuring state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Our hospital offers some of the latest clinical services available to patients. We are a Level II Trauma Center with 24/7 emergency services and an accredited Chest Pain Center. Our Orthopedic Services include Total Joints and Sports Medicine. We are an accredited Cancer Program and Breast Center. We provide Women's Services, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and a Stroke Center. Our Outpatient Services include a Surgery Center, Advanced Wound Care Center, Pain Center, Sleep Disorder Center, Imaging, and Rehab. We are part of HCA Midwest Health, a network of hospitals in Kansas City and surrounding areas.
