Vice President of Legal, E-Commerce Sector

Position Overview: Solutus Legal Search, LLC is representing a prominent international social networking and media organization in their search for a Head of Legal to spearhead their newly established E-Commerce division. This pivotal role will report directly to the General Counsel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acting as the primary legal advisor for E-Commerce initiatives on a global scale.
  • Leading and expanding a team of over 20 legal professionals dedicated to E-Commerce.
  • Delivering strategic legal guidance on matters related to consumer protection, B2B and B2C interactions, advertising, influencer marketing, and intellectual property.
  • Assisting the business in navigating legal and regulatory frameworks for the launch of new products and features worldwide.
  • Collaborating with both local and international stakeholders in legal, privacy, and public policy to achieve project goals within tight deadlines.
  • Formulating internal policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the legal practice.
  • Providing strategic legal insights to executives and business partners on significant growth initiatives.
  • Working in close partnership with leaders across various disciplines, including compliance, public policy, communications, and human resources.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited institution (or equivalent) with active membership in a US State Bar.
  • 18-20+ years of legal expertise, ideally with considerable in-house experience at a company operating an E-Commerce platform.
  • Comprehensive understanding of E-Commerce business models.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations.
  • Expertise in privacy, intellectual property, and other relevant legal areas pertinent to a complex and regulated social media and entertainment platform.
  • Experience advising on digital platforms, including E-Commerce sites and online marketplaces across various commercial sectors, with awareness of evolving regulations.
  • Proven leadership experience, including the ability to build and manage teams effectively.
  • A commitment to developing a modern legal organization that integrates people, processes, and technology for optimal scalability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with all levels of management, including C-suite executives.
  • Demonstrated judgment, integrity, and excellent communication abilities.

Compensation: The base salary for this position ranges from $304,000 to $400,000, with potential for additional discretionary bonuses and stock options. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
