Position Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Wealth Management Consultant to become a vital part of our expanding organization. The ideal candidate will meet the qualifications outlined below to be eligible for consideration.

Role Summary:
Wealth Management Consultants play a crucial role in nurturing existing client relationships while also identifying and pursuing new business opportunities. They provide comprehensive financial guidance to Alerus clients, acting as their trusted primary contact, supported by a dedicated team of specialists. The focus of Wealth Management Consultants is to allocate approximately 60% of their time to developing business with current clients and 40% to attracting new clients.

Key Responsibilities:
Client Engagement & Support - 50%
  • Effectively manage, analyze, and expand a portfolio of high net worth clients, including executives, professionals, entrepreneurs, and business owners, to deliver knowledgeable and advanced financial advice and solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, assisting them in selecting appropriate financial solutions.
  • Understand clients' financial goals and provide holistic financial guidance and planning using the complete suite of Alerus products.
  • Conduct regular proactive relationship assessments based on the complexity and service level of the assigned portfolio.
  • Evaluate clients' financial needs and coordinate with the appropriate service team, including advisors, associates, and product experts.
  • Utilize CRM software to document client interactions, schedule necessary follow-ups, and facilitate client onboarding.
  • Address consumer clients' financial needs comprehensively across all solutions, employing the Alerus approach.
Business Development & Client Acquisition - 30%
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities with existing clients through the relationship assessment process, including leads identified via CRM software.
  • Engage with prospective clients to discuss their financial objectives through outreach efforts, networking, and community involvement.
  • Actively represent Alerus in the marketplace by building a network of influencers and participating in community organizations.
  • Leverage CRM software to monitor new opportunities and schedule follow-up communications for prospecting.
Professional Growth & Development - 20%
  • Maintain an advanced understanding of the financial services industry and stay informed on trends that affect Alerus' competitive positioning.
  • Develop expertise in complex financial planning concepts, including loans, investment products, protection planning, and liquidity management.
  • Gain knowledge in estate planning, charitable contributions, trusts, and tax strategies.
  • Take responsibility for personal career development through ongoing education and self-improvement initiatives.
  • Foster strong working relationships with team members, contributing to the professional development of financial guides, business advisors, and associates.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial services, specifically with high net worth clients.
  • Proven ability to attract and retain high net worth clientele.
  • A defined plan for achieving or completion of professional financial services certifications (e.g., CFP, CFA, CPA).
  • Active financial services licenses (e.g., Insurance, Investment, Brokerage).
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessing clients' financial needs and making proactive recommendations.
  • Experience using CRM software to manage and track sales opportunities.
  • Strong record of sales success and client service capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Established interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in mathematics.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to spend extended periods at a desk and utilize office equipment.
  • Capability to operate a personal computer/laptop for approximately 8 hours daily.
  • Regularly review physical and electronic documents.
  • Occasional requirements to stand, walk, reach, and perform light lifting of materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Primarily work in an indoor environment.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to other markets.
