Your Role as the Lead Engineer for Control Systems

Utilize your engineering expertise to oversee critical start-up initiatives and achieve operational reliability within our production facilities. Provide essential support through diagnosing control systems, performing equipment maintenance, and ensuring adherence to optimal operational practices to facilitate the production of our renowned products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main administrator and troubleshooter for plant power and control systems, playing a vital role in the technical leadership of the facility.
  • Develop and sustain a robust system for the growth of electrical and instrumentation skills; mentor the area E&I Coordinator on skill evaluation and the development of technicians in the department.
  • Collaborate with the Controls Engineering Manager to establish power and control standards, ensuring their implementation in your area of oversight.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulatory codes; responsible for maintaining equipment and safety practices within your jurisdiction.
  • Validate Manufacturing Execution System (MES) data from Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) into Proficy; assist plant Process Engineers in preparing PLC data for effective analysis.
  • Oversee the accuracy and upkeep of sustainability metering equipment; utilize power monitoring data to devise strategies for reducing overall consumption and costs.
  • Provide expertise in designing and implementing machine control and process automation applications, including control strategies, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design, MES applications, and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) development.
  • Work closely with engineering and operations leaders to identify inefficiencies and develop strategies to mitigate them in terms of safety, quality, reliability, and cost.
  • Manage key elements related to power and control systems, including electrical safety and compliance with quality standards.
  • Engage with engineering and operations teams on the selection and installation of new equipment, becoming the technical authority on new systems and ensuring proper training for others.
  • Serve as project manager for various initiatives, from electrical and instrumentation-focused projects to comprehensive capital projects.
  • Provide engineering support for capital projects within your area of responsibility.
  • Learn and apply advanced control, simulation, and process modeling technologies to enhance overall operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in controls engineering.
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to engage and lead teams effectively.
  • Strong understanding of machine and process control hardware, instrumentation, and software, including Allen Bradley PLC and Rockwell FactoryTalk platforms.
  • Familiarity with NFPA and OSHA guidelines related to electrical practices.
  • Experience in adopting and integrating new technologies.
  • Experience in overseeing equipment installation in a food manufacturing context.
  • Demonstrated success in manufacturing maintenance using maintenance systems.
  • Familiarity with plant systems software (Proficy, Project Management, eAM, etc.).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
