Power Electronics Systems Engineer

The Research Engineer will utilize fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization to perform varied scientific research requiring application and adaptation of established techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard scientific techniques, procedures, and criteria to accomplish a variety of research assignments.
- Perform various research projects, including conducting experiments, writing research proposals, writing technical papers, and research reports.
- Develop, test, and demonstrate power electronic systems hardware with power converters, each with power levels exceeding 10 kW and/or voltages of up to 1000 V.
- Work on advanced control of power electronic systems, analog-digital mixed power controllers for power electronic systems, electric vehicles fast chargers, and Lithium-Ion battery energy storage.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to achieve research goals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of research experience; OR master's degree and some research experience.
- Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire.
- Ability to work collaboratively and learn additional skills as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Significant experience in one or more of the technical or research areas related to the project.
