Job Overview

Christel House Schools is seeking applications for the role of Behavioral Specialist. Our organization is a dynamic network of high-performing charter schools committed to providing quality education to low-income, urban students.

Position Type: Full-Time; Non-Exempt
Reports To: Principal

Position Summary:
This role is designed to assist students who require additional support in achieving academic success through individualized, small group, and collaborative instructional methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teaching staff to identify students who are struggling to meet academic standards.
  • Support students with assignments that reinforce learning objectives.
  • Supervise individual and/or groups of students to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Maintain detailed records of interventions and monitor student progress.
  • Provide 're-teaching' and social skills instruction as directed by classroom teachers or social workers.
  • Implement behavior plans and RTI strategies under the guidance of the assistant principal.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit preparedness and skill in engaging with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions to enhance job-related knowledge and skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience or training in education and teaching.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using technology.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Alignment with the mission and goals of Christel House Schools.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of up to 10 pounds.
