Job Overview

Christel House Schools is currently seeking applications for the position of Behavioral Specialist. Our organization is a dynamic network of high-performing charter schools committed to serving underprivileged, urban students.

Employment Status: Full-Time; Non-Exempt
Reports To: Principal

Position Summary:
This role is designed to assist students who require additional support in achieving academic success through various instructional methods, including small group and individual instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teaching staff to identify students who are struggling with specific skills and knowledge.
  • Support students with assignments that reinforce educational concepts.
  • Supervise individual and/or groups of students to ensure a safe and encouraging learning environment.
  • Maintain documentation of interventions and monitor student progress.
  • Provide additional instruction and social skills training as needed, based on classroom teaching.
  • Implement behavior plans and Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies under the guidance of the assistant principal.

Additional Duties:

  • Exhibit preparation and skill in engaging with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
  • Participate in meetings and professional development sessions to enhance job-related knowledge.
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Some background or training in education and teaching.
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively while maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology.
  • Consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Alignment with the mission and goals of Christel House Schools.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 10 pounds.
