Compensation Structure

The hourly pay range for this position is as follows:

  • $49.65 for the 531.2 level
  • $59.49 for the 531.3 level

Please note that compensation is determined based on various factors including experience, education, and market conditions.

Position Summary

We are seeking multiple Electronics Technologists/Senior Electronics Technologists to support both new and ongoing projects at the High Explosives Applications Facility (HEAF). These roles are integral to the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED) and the Weapon Technologies and Engineering (WTE) Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical electronic support to engineering and scientific teams to facilitate experiments at LLNL and other designated locations.
  • Design, construct, and deconstruct moderately complex electronic systems and components while adhering to established protocols.
  • Utilize electronic diagnostic tools, maintain control systems, assist with calibration and alignment, and conduct data recovery post-experiment.
  • Document systems and maintain experimental records accurately.
  • Conduct facility maintenance, testing, and upgrades to ensure operational readiness.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in support and experimental areas.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Advanced Responsibilities for 531.3 Level

  • Deliver advanced assembly and disassembly support for complex weapon systems and develop operational documentation.
  • Design and fabricate intricate electronic systems, including planning and equipment selection.
  • Analyze and resolve complex electronic issues with innovative solutions.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, requiring U.S. Citizenship.
  • Associate degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in using electrical diagnostic equipment and maintaining control systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering documents and specifications.
  • Familiarity with engineering hardware design and testing methodologies.
  • Experience with fabrication processes and operating hand/power tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Capability to meet medical qualifications for safety equipment and perform tasks while using protective gear.

Preferred Qualifications for 531.3 Level

  • Extensive experience in electronic circuit design and systems.
  • Advanced technical skills to address complex engineering challenges.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.

Security Clearance Requirement

This role necessitates a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. A background investigation will be initiated to assess eligibility for access to classified information.
