  • POSITION OVERVIEW
    • The Chief Operations Officer at Saint Luke's Hospital of Duluth is responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, and management across various clinical and support service divisions. This role is crucial in ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned with the objectives outlined in the organization’s strategic operational framework. The COO is instrumental in driving growth initiatives that resonate with the mission, vision, values, and strategic aspirations of the hospital. This position involves active engagement and accountability for the management of functions delegated by the President.
  • ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education: A Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration or a related discipline.
    • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years in healthcare leadership roles, healthcare consulting, strategic planning, or business development within the healthcare sector.

  • SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
    • In-depth knowledge of contemporary trends in Ambulatory Care management; understanding of administrative principles and leadership methodologies; proven ability in both verbal and written communication; familiarity with accepted personnel practices; comprehension of legal frameworks governing Ambulatory Care; expertise in budgeting and financial management; capability to plan, organize, and assess Ambulatory Care activities, ensuring quality through necessary adjustments; proficiency in facilitating group objectives; and the ability to cultivate productive relationships with hospital, Ambulatory Care, and medical staff.
    • Ability to operate independently, manage multiple priorities, and adhere to deadlines. Familiarity with Ambulatory Care scheduling, registration, reimbursement, billing, and documentation processes. Proficient in using PCs, Windows, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project). Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with teaching and problem-solving abilities. This role may require occasional travel, including overnight stays and weekends, to fulfill the responsibilities associated with the position.
    • READING SKILLS - Intermediate: Capable of interpreting documents such as operating instructions and procedural manuals.
    • WRITING SKILLS - Intermediate: Proficient in drafting routine reports, correspondence, and procedural documentation.
    • SPEAKING SKILLS - Intermediate: Able to effectively present information in various settings, including one-on-one and group situations.
    • MATHEMATICAL ABILITY - Intermediate: Competent in basic arithmetic operations and capable of calculating figures such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
    • REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate: Able to apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.
