Role Summary

MNS is seeking a Project Engineer to leverage technical expertise and leadership in the planning, design, and management of transportation initiatives and associated infrastructure for public sector clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive knowledge and skills focused on transportation projects for public clients, including roadway geometrics, ADA ramps, grading, and surface design.
  • Conduct engineering calculations and produce detailed design drawings and specifications, including construction quantities and earthwork volume surfaces.
  • Collect data, assess alternatives, and generate engineering reports, such as cost comparisons and geometric alternatives.
  • Engage with clients, local and remote MNS personnel, permitting agencies, and other consulting firms throughout project execution.
  • Assist in project management activities related to the planning and implementation of municipal engineering projects.
  • Support local teams in identifying, pursuing, and securing new projects and opportunities.
  • Enhance knowledge and skills in a specific area of practice.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and criteria to perform tasks for conventional projects with minimal complexity.
  • Utilize judgment to adapt methods for non-routine aspects of assignments.
  • Contribute to small projects or segments of larger projects.
  • Delegate tasks and coordinate work with junior engineers, technicians, or administrative staff.
  • Assist in determining project schedules and budget requirements.
  • Receive guidance on unconventional and complex challenges, along with potential solutions.
  • Undergo thorough review of completed work to ensure sound professional judgment is applied.
  • Review engineering outputs from other team members.
  • Travel frequently to project sites and client locations to discuss project requirements and monitor progress.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer License or eligibility to take the exam within one year of employment.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Valid California driver's license and insurable by the insurance provider.

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience, including at least 2 years as an Associate Engineer.

Essential Skills

  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to interact effectively with staff, the general public, officials, and contractors.
  • Assist with communications related to specific assignments or meetings.
  • Prepare draft design reports under the guidance of senior staff.

Salary Range

$90,000 to $140,000 per year
