Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Collaborate with technical field inspectors and project teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Engage in various construction engineering tasks, particularly focusing on roadways and bridges.
  • Oversee project Quality Control and Assurance measures.
  • Manage professional and technical personnel, along with contract administration duties.
  • Review change orders, shop drawings, materials testing, and surveying documentation.
  • Facilitate weekly project meetings and coordinate utility management.
  • Organize materials testing, surveying, grade verification, and payment requests.
  • Ensure compliance with EEO/labor regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare progress and final documentation in accordance with State and Federal Highway Administration standards.
  • Handle major projects or multiple projects of moderate complexity.
  • Draft and assess comprehensive project documents for adherence to quality standards.
  • Support upper management and staff as a technical expert or advisor.
  • Supervise all personnel necessary to fulfill project assignments and ensure profitability.
  • Maintain project scopes, budgets, and timelines.
  • Develop proposals for professional services under the guidance of a Principal Construction Manager.
  • Address issues arising from inspections or contract management.
  • Assist in recruitment efforts and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Act as the primary liaison with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • California registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) is mandatory.
  • Valid California Class C driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Over 8 years of experience in construction contract management, specifically in bridge and roadway projects.
  • Familiarity with CALTRANS and local agency projects, along with document coordination for federally funded initiatives, is preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Represent the organization in discussions and conferences related to engineering projects.
  • Proficient in negotiating change orders.
  • Effective personnel management skills.
