MNS is seeking a Project Engineer to leverage technical expertise and leadership in the planning, design, and management of transportation projects and associated infrastructure for public sector clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge and skills focusing on transportation projects for public clients, including roadway geometrics, ADA ramps, grading, and surface features.
  • Conduct engineering calculations and create detailed design drawings and specifications, encompassing construction quantities and earthwork volume surfaces.
  • Collect data, develop and assess alternatives, and compile engineering reports, including cost comparisons and geometric alternatives.
  • Engage with clients, local and remote MNS personnel, permitting agencies, and other consulting firms throughout project execution.
  • Assist in project management tasks related to the planning and execution of municipal engineering initiatives.
  • Support local teams in identifying, pursuing, and securing new projects and opportunities.
  • Enhance knowledge and skills in a specific area of practice.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement standard techniques, procedures, and criteria for conventional projects with minimal complexity.
  • Utilize judgment collaboratively to adapt methods for non-routine aspects of assignments.
  • Contribute to small projects or segments of larger initiatives.
  • Delegate tasks and coordinate efforts with entry-level engineers, technicians, or administrative staff.
  • Assist in determining project schedules and budgetary requirements.
  • Receive guidance on unconventional and complex challenges, exploring potential solutions.
  • Undergo thorough reviews of completed work to ensure sound professional judgment is applied.
  • Review engineering outputs from peers.
  • Travel frequently to project sites and client locations to discuss project requirements and monitor progress.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Education, Licensure, or Certification Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer License or eligibility to take the exam within one year of employment.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and insurability by the insurance provider.

Minimum Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience, including at least 2 years as an Associate Engineer.

Other Required Skills:

  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to interact effectively with staff, the general public, officials, and contractors.
  • Assist with communications related to specific assignments or meetings with clients, customers, or officials.
  • Prepare draft design reports under the guidance of senior staff.
