About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Supervisor to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our machine shop operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the production of high-quality aerospace components, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of machine shop personnel to meet production targets and quality standards.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities to team members.
  • Establish and maintain workstation assignments, employee training, and overtime schedules.
  • Ensure accurate machine shop staff data recording, including clock-in/clock-out activities.
  • Provide continued training and skills development for team members and mentor early career team members.
  • Support design for manufacturing and provide job planning estimates.
  • Safely work within an industrial environment and maintain machine shop organization, safety, and cleanliness.
Requirements
  • 4 years minimum of management experience.
  • 7 years minimum experience in machining aerospace components.
  • Root cause and corrective action analysis experience.
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
  • Strong communication skills with a heavy customer focus.
  • Must have a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Clear understanding of production versus development environments.
  • Fluent in the use of precision hand tools.
  • Familiar with the use of personal computers.
  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience machining nickel-based stainless steel alloys, copper, titanium.
  • Tooling and fixture design.
  • 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or Kaizen experience.
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM tools.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight-critical hardware.
  • Knowledge and understanding of CMM programming/operation.
  • Outside processing knowledge (heat treating, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.).
  • Experience machining tight tolerance, high-value components.
